Better latte than never.
Coffee making is an art, and making a good latte is no exception. You need the best latte recipe, the ideal ingredients, tools and equipment and the excitement to drink your favourite coffee drink. Much like with anything you cook, bake or make, every recipe has a certain set of instructions with important pointers that are a must to follow to get the best results. Making a latte might sound complicated but it actually isn’t.
Today we’re going to talk about how to make a latte at home and the important things that you need to remember while making a latte at home.
Making a cafe style latte at home can be very easy if you have the right latte recipe. You need to strongly brew the coffee concentrate, perfectly froth/foam the milk, add the frothed milk to the coffee concentrate, add sugar or any other sweetener as per your taste and voila, you’re done. You can watch and read about how to make a latte right here at home using Sleepy Owl coffee and accessories.
Here are some of the important things that you need to remember and keep an eye out for while making a latte at home.
1. Use the right kind of coffee
First and foremost, your coffee should be finely ground. Any other kind of grind will not make a well balanced cup of latte. Luckily for you, we have coffee brew bags and instant coffee powder which makes it easy for you to make just the best latte at home.
The brew bags are for Hot Brews as well as Cold Brews and our Premium Instant Coffee powder dissolves seamlessly in hot and cold water and milk so you can enjoy a hot or iced latte, whatever you’re in the mood for.
Each of these also come in a variety of flavours, in fact we have a latte flavoured Hot Brew that is unique and a must try. With these different flavours you can enjoy not only a regular latte but also a vanilla latte or a hazelnut latte when you’re craving something different.
2. Make sure that your milk is perfectly frothed.
The frothy, foamy nature of the milk in a latte is what makes it so great. There’s nothing more satisfying than having a foamy cup of latte and a latte is nothing without that perfect layer of foam on top. To help you get that perfect foam at home, we have a state-of-the-art Coffee Frother, which is so easy to use and can perfect froth milk and coffee with just one powerful press of a button.
The Coffee Frother is battery operated and comes with a stainless steel stand which makes it easy to store and place on a shelf or kitchen counter. Our Frother will help you add that perfect layer of foam that will make your homemade latte nothing short of what you might get at a coffee shop.
3. The kind of milk you use makes a huge difference.
Since the perfect latte requires perfectly frothed milk, one important thing to remember is that not all types of milk can be foamed or frothed the way they should be. Firstly, it’s important to use fresh milk only. Whole milk is the best to use when it comes to frothing milk. Animal milks froth very well but if you’re vegan or dairy free then using nut-based milks can be used however they might not froth as well as animal milk.
Quick tip: Cold milk froths better than hot milk.
4. Make sure your coffee concentrate is strong.
Since a latte is a majorly milk-based coffee drink, you don’t want to lose the flavour of coffee and make it taste too milky. The best latte has the perfect balance between coffee flavour and milk. Especially when you’re making a flavoured latte like a vanilla latte or hazelnut latte, you don’t want to overpower these delicious flavours with the taste of frothed milk. This is why making your coffee concentrate super strong can actually help you keep the coffee flavour present without letting the milkiness take over.
If you’re using our coffee brew bags to make a latte then we suggest brewing them for a significant amount of time so the concentrate is strong enough and if you’re using our instant coffee powder then we suggest adding more spoons than you usually would to make a well balanced cup of latte.
5. Keep a steady han
